Auto Driver Becomes Traffic Police: Resolves Heavy Traffic In Chandigarh For One And Half Hours In Cop's Absence

The incident is from Chandigarh's Manimajra, where an ordinary auto driver went beyond his responsibility and managed the heavily stucked traffic including release of a school kid's bus and an ambulance. Traffic light malfunctioned at Manimajra road and due to the absence of traffic police, the auto driver got into their shoes.

Traffic signal malfunctioned at Manimajra Housing Board Chowk

On Monday afternoon around 1 pm, the traffic light at the main chowk (chowk no. 5) ahead of Manimajra Housing Board towards Himachal and Shimla suddenly malfunctioned. There was a huge jam at the intersection of the road.

According to the locals, no traffic police personnel were posted at the spot. Owing to this serious situation, an auto driver, identified as Anil Kumar parked his auto on one side and without any orders took the responsibility of controlling the traffic himself. He stood in the middle of the road and started letting out vehicles coming from all directions one by one in a restrained manner.

Reports suggest that he not only released stranded school children bus and common citizens, but also provided safe passage to three ambulances and a VIP convoy stuck in the jam. Many passersby and drivers saluted him after seeing him controlling the traffic and some even made videos on their mobile phones and shared them on social media.

Anil Kumar is not just an auto driver

According to reports, local residents said that Anil Kumar is not just an auto driver, but he also often participates in social work. He helps the needy people and is also said to be the head of the auto organization.

Anil Kumar kept controlling the traffic for about one and a half hours. Meanwhile, no traffic policeman reached the spot. Anil remained present there until the traffic light of the road was repaired by the technical team.
