Pune, Maharashtra: In a daring stunt, a 70-year-old woman caught a massive snake with bare hands in Maharashtra's Pune. The incident was recorded on camera by the onlookers and the video is doing rounds on social media. The elderly woman performed the stunt to spread awareness about the non-venomous snake. The video shows the woman fearlessly putting the snake around her neck in full public view.

The woman has been reportedly identified as Shakuntala Sutar who hails from Kasar Amboli village which is located in Pune's Mulshi Taluka. She showed remarkable courage and presence of mind when a rat snake (Dhaman) entered her home.

Instead of panicking or screaming for help, she did not show fear, created no chaos and calmly caught the snake herself. After catching the snake, she put it around her neck to spread awareness about snakes.

"There’s no need to panic when you see a snake. Not every snake is venomous. The rat snake doesn't harm humans, in fact, it’s helpful for farms as it eats rats and pests. People often kill snakes out of fear and superstition, which is wrong," she explained.
