Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Women’s Congress submitted a memorandum to Mayor Mukesh Tatwal on Monday protesting the inappropriate behavior of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC)’s in-charge executive engineer (EE) Piyush Bhargava towards a female sub-engineer.
The memorandum was presented by City Women Congress president Sonia Thakur, corporators Sapna Sankhla, Premlata Rami and Poonam Jaiswal among others.
In the memorandum, Women’s Congress demanded strict action against Bhargava for his behavior. Women’s Congress is urging authorities to address the issue quickly to ensure justice for the affected individual and to send a strong message against workplace harassment.
Opposition takes a dig on Yadav Government
City Congress Committee president Mukesh Bhati and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in UMC Ravi Rai emphasized that this is a case of women’s harassment, which prompted Women’s Congress to take the step. They have called for swift action into the matter, warning that if no immediate action is taken, City Congress will launch a protest.
PCC DIG ON YADAV GOVT Earlier, Pradesh Congress Committee’s spokesperson and media in-charge of Ujjain Congress Santosh Singh Gautam, demanded a high-level probe into an alleged harassment case involving an UMC officer.
The case pertains to a viral WhatsApp chat and audio call allegedly involving in-charge executive engineer Piyush Bhargava and a female sub-engineer. The conversation appears to show Bhargava harassing and making unwanted advances towards the female officer.

Gautam demanded that if investigation finds Bhargava guilty, he should be punished severely and promptly. He also criticised the BJP government saying that despite its ‘Ladli Behna’ and ‘Nari Suraksha’ slogans, it has failed to provide safety and security to women in the state.
Gautam pointed out that increasing number of crimes against women in MP is evidence of the government’s failure to protect women. He demanded a thorough investigation into the entire matter and urged authorities to find out if the female officer was subjected to undue pressure and harassment through WhatsApp chats and audio calls.
