Mumbai: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, a crucial civil-military coordination meeting was held at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's official residence, Varsha, in Mumbai on Monday. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the defence forces and the Maharashtra state government, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, cybersecurity, and emergency preparedness.

Chaired by Chief Minister Fadnavis, the meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar; senior military officials including the General Officer Commanding of the Indian Army for Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa; the Flag Officer Commanding of the Maharashtra Naval Area; and the Air Vice Marshal of the Indian Air Force.

Top state officials such as the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and senior officers from the Home Department, ATS, and Home Guard also participated. Representatives from key financial and strategic institutions like the Reserve Bank of India, JNPT, BPT, Mumbai Stock Exchange, and NSE were present.

On Monday, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, shared a post on X about a meeting he chaired at his official residence, Varsha, in Mumbai. The meeting focused on civil-military coordination and included the Indian Army’s general officer among the attendees.

During the meeting, CM Fadnavis admired the Indian Army’s recent ‘Operation Sindoor’, calling it “unprecedented” and saluting the defence forces. Emphasising Mumbai’s critical role as the nation’s financial capital, he mentioned that the terrorist attacks that have taken place here in the past were a direct attack on the economic infrastructure.

Therefore, coordination between cybersecurity and intelligence agencies in such sensitive places is of utmost importance. He proposed the establishment of a dedicated mechanism to ensure regular communication between civil and military leadership.

The session underscored the importance of technology integration, intelligence sharing, and preparedness to safeguard the state's infrastructure and citizen security.
