FASTag Annual Pass Launches Today: ₹3,000 For 200 Highway Trips, Activation Via NHAI’s Rajmargyatra App
NHAI and multiple outlets have clarified scope and counting rules. On closed-toll expressways (e.g., Delhi–Mumbai), one trip covers the entry-to-exit journey; on open-toll corridors, each plaza crossing counts as a trip.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out a FASTag-based Annual Pass from today. The pass costs Rs. 3,000 and is valid for one year from activation or up to 200 toll transactions, whichever comes first. It applies only to private cars, jeeps and vans at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas. A dedicated activation link is available in the Rajmargyatra mobile app, with access also indicated on official NHAI and MoRTH websites.
NHAI and multiple outlets have clarified scope and counting rules. On closed-toll expressways (e.g., Delhi–Mumbai), one trip covers the entry-to-exit journey; on open-toll corridors, each plaza crossing counts as a trip. The pass does not cover state-managed expressways or non-NHAI plazas (for example, Mumbai–Pune Expressway and Samruddhi Mahamarg in Maharashtra).
Holders do not need a new FASTag if their existing tag is active and linked to their vehicle registration number (VRN). The pass is non-transferable and limited to one pass per eligible vehicle.
How to get the FASTag Annual Pass (step-by-step)
1. Install/Update Rajmargyatra: Download the Rajmargyatra app (Android/iOS) and update to the latest version that enables Annual Pass purchase.
2. Sign in and check eligibility
Log in with your mobile number. Confirm that your FASTag is active, affixed to the vehicle, and linked to a valid VRN (not a chassis number). Eligible categories are private/non-commercial vehicles (cars/jeeps/vans).
3. Open 'Annual Pass' in the app
In Rajmargyatra, navigate to the Annual Pass section to start activation.
4. Select vehicle & verify FASTag details
Choose the vehicle/FASTag to be covered. Ensure tag ID and VRN match your RC details to avoid rejection.
5. Pay the fee
Complete the Rs. 3,000 payment within the app using UPI, debit/credit card or net banking.
6. Activation & confirmation
After payment and verification, the pass is activated on your existing FASTag. Expect SMS/in-app confirmation; activation generally reflects the same day. You can view remaining trips and validity in the app dashboard.
The annual pass is valid at NHAI NH/NE plazas nationwide; standard tolls apply at state/local plazas.
Trip counting: Closed-toll systems = 1 trip for a complete run; open-toll corridors = each plaza crossing counts.
Exclusions: Not valid on certain state-managed expressways (e.g., Mumbai–Pune, Samruddhi).
After 200 trips / 1 year: The tag reverts to regular FASTag mode; you may re-activate another annual pass.
If you need the exact on-app menu labels or encounter errors, check the Rajmarg Yatra app’s latest 'What’s New' and description, which confirm the Annual Pass purchase and tracking features.
