In a bid to attract new customers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new prepaid plan titled “Azadi Ka Plan." The initiative offers mobile services at a jaw-dropping price of just ₹1, aimed at attracting new users to BSNL’s expanding 4G network across India.
The plan, which is available exclusively for new customers, includes 2GB of high-speed 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day, and a free SIM card — all with 30 days of validity. The high speed data will be throttled to 40 kbps after the daily cap limit is exceeded.
This limited-period offer is valid from August 1 to August 3, and can be availed at any BSNL Customer Service Center (CSC) or authorized retail outlet across the country. More details can also be found on the official BSNL website and mobile app.
With this offer, BSNL is making a strategic push to increase its market share, particularly among first-time users and rural subscribers.
Currently, the telecom space is ruled by giants like Jio and Airtel. By eliminating cost as a barrier for entry, BSNL is banking on the combination of affordability and growing 4G coverage to rebuild its user base.
Recently, BSNL also introduced doorstep delivery of SIM cards in India. The telecom company has unveiled a new portal that will allow users to port existing number into BSNL or activate a new connection from home. BSNL has launched a new dedicated webpage for this home service. It is now allowing users to do self KYC and delivering SIM cards at doorsteps.
