The second and final night of the SummerSlam 2025 witnessed former world champion Brock Lesnar making his return following the gruelling match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Beast Incarnate stormed the ring, locked eyes with Cena, and delivered a devastating F5 after the 17-time world champion lost the title match to the American Nightmare (Rhodes).

Brock Lesnar makes a statement on his returns to WWE

Lesnar makes his first WWE appearance since his loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. He was originally set to make his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble; however, he did not make an appearance due to undisclosed reasons. His re-emergence now sets the stage for a high-stakes feud leading into the final chapter of Cena’s legendary career.

A similar incident had happened at SummerSlam 2021, when Lesnar returned after Roman Reigns defeated Cena. That attack, however, came after the cameras stopped rolling. This time, Lesnar made his presence known live and loud.

John Cena turns babyface

Cena, who officially turned babyface again at SummerSlam 2025, had a dramatic run over the past year. After betraying Cody Rhodes under The Rock’s influence at Elimination Chamber, he went on to defeat Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, claiming his record-setting 17th world title.

But his redemption arc seemed to reach its peak tonight—only to be derailed by Lesnar's ruthless return. With Cena’s retirement scheduled for December 2025, the coming months promise a climactic end to his career.

Cody Rhodes pays tribute to John Cena

As for Cody Rhodes, his victory cements him once again as the face of the company. In a brutal, weapon-filled battle, he paid tribute to Cena before landing a decisive Cross Rhodes to secure the win. With the title back in his hands and unfinished business still ahead, Cody’s road as champion is far from over.
