WPL Auction 2023: Delhi Capitals bag Jemimah Rodrigues for ₹2.20 crore, Shafali Verma for ₹2 crore
DC have bagged two big names in Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma in the ongoing WPL Auction in Mumbai.

Delhi Capitals are on fire in the Women's Premier League Auction and going all out to bag the best of players for the inaugural edition of the WPL 2023.
DC have bagged two big names in Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma in the ongoing auction.
Rodrigues was bought for ₹2.20 crore while Verma went for ₹2 crore in the auction being held in Mumbai.
Rodrigues was the star with the bat for Team India on Sunday as her maiden fifty guided the Women in Blue to a resounding 7-wicket win over Pakistan in their opening Group 2 match at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2023 in Cape Town.
Rodrigues smashed 53 not out as India completed the highest successful run chase in the format and gunned down the target of 150 in 19 overs. Verma played a cameo of 33 off 25 balls.
Rodrigues is the second-most expensive Indian player sold in the auction so far after Smriti Mandhana.
WPL Auction details
A total of 409 cricketers are going under the hammer in Mumbai which includes 246 Indians and 163 foreign players.
Each team will have a purse of ₹12 crore at the players' auction and will need to buy a minimum of 15 players and maximum of 18.
24 players entered the auction with the highest base price of ₹50 lakh, including Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.
Mandhana is the most expensive player sold in the auction so far at ₹3.40 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Harmanpreet went to Mumbai Indians for ₹1.80 crore.
The inaugural edition of the WPL will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to 26. All 22 games will be played at the Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium in the city.
