20-year-old Ayush Shetty ended India's title drought in the singles competition this season after winning the US Open Super 300 title. Ayush beat Canada's Brian Yang 21-18, 21-13 in 47 minutes on Sunday to cap off an impressive week, which included a come-from-behind win against top seed Chou Tien Chen in the semifinals. This was also his maiden title on the BWF circuit.

Ayush Shetty born on May 3, 2005, hails from Sanoor near Karkala in Karnataka. He began his badminton journey at the age of eight, coached initially by his father in their backyard.

Looking at his talent, Ayush's family decided to move to Bengaluru for better training facilities and coaching, which helped him develop into a competitive player on the national and international stages.

Ayush Shetty's career so far

Shetty’s career highlights include winning the bronze medal in the boys’ singles event at the 2023 World Junior Championships held in Spokane, USA, marking him as one of India’s notable young talents in badminton. 

He also won the Denmark Junior International in 2021 and secured runner-up positions at the Odisha Masters Super 100 (2023), Bahrain International Challenge (2023), and Dutch Open (2024).
