SunRisers Eastern Cape middle-order batter Tristan Stubbs clobbered one of the mightiest hits in recent times during the SA20 fixture against Durban Super Giants on Saturday at Kingsmead. The six over the square-leg region by the right-hander landed on the road as the clip of the same went viral on social media.
The incident occurred during the 19th over of the innings as Reece Topley delivered a gift by bowling full on the pads. Stubbs lifted it and sent the ball a long way out of the venue. Cameras showed that the ball had landed in between one of the cars as it was passing by on the road.
Earlier, the Durban Super Giants won the toss and elected to bat first. Wiaan Mulder top-scored for them with 52 off 29 deliveries, laced with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Heinrich Klaasen, Matthew Breetzkee, and Dwaine Pretorious also followed up with critical contributions to lead the Super Giants to 159 in 20 overs.
Tristan Stubbs wins it for the defending champions after mini-collapse:
Stubbs, who stayed unbeaten at 66 off 37 deliveries, won it for the SunRisers after they had stumbled to 97-5 in 14.3 overs. The right-handed batter got to his half-century off only 30 deliveries in the 17th over by the end of which his side needed only 10 off the last 2 overs.
It was also the Super Giants' 2nd consecutive loss, having lost their first to the Pretoria Capitals.
