Constable, making his long-awaited appearance at the starting gates for the 16th time, emerges as the standout contender for the prestigious Yohan Z Poonawalla Turf Club Trophy (Gr.3) — the feature event of the fourth day of the Pune racing season, scheduled to be held at the historic Pune race course on Sunday.

This seasoned five-year-old bay gelding, trained by champion handler Pesi Shroff, carries an impressive résumé that includes three solid victories and several credible performances, including a close seventh behind the winner in a high-class field. Judging by his recent track work, Constable appears to be in peak racing condition, making him a strong favourite for this second graded event of the season at this iconic venue.

The race, to be contested over a challenging seven-furlong journey, has attracted a compact but competitive field of seven runners. Among them, Constable’s stablemate Jade is expected to mount the most serious challenge, having shown consistent form in recent outings. Also in the reckoning is Snowfall, to be partnered by the talented and fast-rising jockey Yash Narredu, who will be eager to make a mark on this big stage.

With the starter set to dispatch the field at 4:00 p.m. sharp, racing enthusiasts can look forward to a thrilling contest that promises both class and excitement, befitting the stature of the Yohan Z Poonawalla Turf Club Trophy.
