Former Indian U19 cricketer Shreevats Goswami condemned the recent terror attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Goswami put out a lengthy statement on his official account on X and stated that they must take a stand to not play any matches with Pakistan anymore, including in the global events.
At least 12 tourists have been reported injured and a handful of them lost their lives as unidentified gunmen shot them during the terror attack in Pahalgam. A father-son duo, belonging to Gujarat, are also included in the deceased list as the Indian government is likely to come up with a strong response.
Several current and former Indian cricketers have joined in to condemn the attack and Goswami is among them as he wrote, alleging Pakistan of causing the attack:
"And this is exactly what I say - you don't play cricket with Pakistan. Not now. Not ever. When BCCI or the government refused to send India to the Champions Trophy to Pakistan, some had the audacity to say, "Oh but sport should rise above politics". Really? But from where I stand, murdering innocent Indians seems to their national sport. And if that's how they play - it's time we respond in a language they truly understand. Not with bats and balls. But with resolve. With dignity. With Zero tolerance."
"I'm furious. I'm devastated. Just a few months ago, I was in Kashmir for the Legends League - I walked through Pahalgam, met locals, saw hope returning to their eyes. It felt like peace had finally found its way back. And now..this bloodshed again. It breaks something inside you. It makes you question how many more times we're expected to stay silent, say "sporting", while our people die. No more. Not this time."
India defeated Pakistan comprehensively in their most recent encounter in global events
Meanwhile, India had comprehensively beaten Pakistan when the two teams met in their most recent ICC event which was the Champions Trophy 2025 game. Bowling first, the Men in Blue had bowled Pakistan out for 242.
Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century, while Virat Kohli slammed an unbeaten hundred to take their side over the line with seven wickets to spare.
