Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth took a brutal dig at Vijay Shankar despite Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 game on Monday at the Ekana International Stadium. Replying to an X user, Srikkanth said the all-rounder is best suited to bring in refreshments for CSK players.

Out of his five innings in IPL 2025, Shankar has got to double figures only on two occasions alongside a best of 69* that came against the Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk. The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer dragged himself to 9 runs off 10 deliveries against the Lucknow Super Giants and was dismissed by Digvesh Rathi.

Taking to X, Srikkanth wrote that the win certainly feels like a resurrection.

"What a win for @ChennaiIPL! Dhoni proves once again why he's called Thala- not just for his performance, but for the calm, commanding way he led his troops. This isn’t just a victory… it feels like the beginning of a resurrection. The roar is back on Tamil Newyear!"

With a user asking if Vijay Shankar deserves a place in the side, the 1983 World Cup-winning member said he only needs to be there to bring refreshments for other players.

Rishabh Pant's 63 goes in vain as MS Dhoni breaks Chennai Super Kings' losing streak

With the Lucknow Super Giants put into bat, they had lost Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran cheaply within the powerplay. However, Pant brought up his first half-century of the season, scoring 63 off 49 deliveries, lifting the Super Giants to 166/7 in 20 overs.

Although the five-time champions started the run-chase in promising fashion, they had slumped to 111/5 at one stage, making the job difficult for themselves. However, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube stayed till the end to seal their second win of the tournament.
