In a peculiar turn of events during the IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Jaipur, Karun Nair found himself at the center of an unusual incident that left both fans and players bewildered.
The moment unfolded on the final ball of the 15th over when Mohit Sharma delivered a back-of-length ball to Shashank Singh. Shashank pulled the delivery towards long-on, where Nair was stationed. Leaping to intercept the ball, Nair caught it mid-air but, realizing his momentum would carry him over the boundary, cleverly flicked the ball back into play before landing. Immediately after, he raised both hands, signaling a six—a gesture typically reserved for umpires.

However, upon reviewing the footage, the third umpire found no conclusive evidence that Nair had touched the boundary rope during his effort. Consequently, instead of awarding six runs, the umpire deemed it a legal save, granting the batting side only a single run. This decision not only contradicted Nair's own signal but also highlighted the complexities and occasional misunderstandings inherent in the game's rules.

IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals are taking on Punjab Kings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur
While the Delhi Capitals have nothing to lose after being officially knocked out of IPL 2025 playoffs, Punjab Kings still have a lot to gain despite sealing their spot in the top four. With the top two spots still up for grabs, the Punjab Kings will want to keep their momentum going at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Capitals have only two more matches to go in this edition and will hope to find answers about what they can do better the next season. Axar Patel could return for the fixture after missing the crucial game against the Mumbai Indians due to illness. However, it's both batting and bowling that the Capitals need to rise their performance in, having missed out on reaching the playoffs despite starting the season with four consecutive wins.
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, have got all their bases covered as they showcased during the ten-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals. However, their bowling performance might still need some improvement, especially with the playoffs fast approaching.
