The fan who had breached security to fall on Virat Kohli's feet in the IPL 2025 opener between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, has been arrested. A video of him being taken into the police station from the vehicle had surfaced on social media.
The Delhi-born cricketer was in his element on the night as he stayed unbeaten on 59 to fire the Royal Challengers to a seven-wicket victory over the defending champions. The veteran clattered four fours and three sixes in his 36-ball knock as he and Phil Salt broke the back of the run-chase of 175. The Royal Challengers needed only 16.2 overs to win the game with seven wickets to spare.
Below is the video released by Zee24 of the man getting arrested for the mishap he caused:
"It's a ground I know" - Phil Salt
Speaking to the host broadcaster after the seven-wicket win, Phil Salt, who had put on 95 with Kohli, said it was key during the run-chase and felt dew made their job even easier. The 28-year-old England batter claimed:
"Kohli and I haven't batted together much, to put on a partnership like that was key. It's a ground I know, had a simple game plan coming in. Wanted to go on longer, but not to be. Batting second here makes a bit of difference, you have to hit through the line."
Krunal Pandya, who claimed figures of 4-0-29-3, earned the Player of the Match award.
