In a significant mid-season development, Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Fraser-McGurk has opted to withdraw from the ongoing tournament citing personal reasons.

Mustafizur Rahman, a seasoned campaigner in T20 cricket, brings with him a wealth of experience. The left-arm medium pacer has featured in 57 IPL matches to date, claiming 61 wickets with his deceptive variations and pinpoint accuracy. Internationally, he has represented Bangladesh in 106 T20 Internationals, bagging an impressive 132 wickets.

Delhi Capitals have acquired Mustafizur’s services for a fee of ₹6 crore. His inclusion is expected to bolster the team’s bowling attack, providing crucial depth and experience as DC continues its push towards the playoffs.

This signing marks a return to the IPL for Mustafizur, who has previously played for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and even Delhi Capitals in earlier seasons. Known for his effective death-over bowling and ability to deliver under pressure, the Bangladeshi speedster will be a valuable addition to the DC squad as they look to fill the void left by Fraser-McGurk’s departure.

Delhi Capitals will be hoping that Mustafizur hits the ground running and delivers impactful performances in the crucial final stretch of the league stage.

Narendra Modi Stadium Likely To Host IPL 2025 Final Amid Rain Threat In Kolkata: Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering shifting the IPL 2025 final to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, moving it from the originally planned venue of Kolkata's Eden Gardens. According to inputs from Cricbuzz, this potential change is primarily due to unpredictable weather in Kolkata.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, renowned as the world's largest cricket venue with a seating capacity exceeding 132,000, has previously hosted significant matches, including the IPL finals in 2022 and 2023, as well as the 2023 Cricket World Cup final. Its state-of-the-art facilities and experience in managing high-profile events make it a strong candidate for hosting the final.

Additionally, the BCCI is closely monitoring weather patterns, particularly the onset of the monsoon season, to ensure optimal playing conditions. Ahmedabad's relatively dry climate in early June adds to its suitability as a host city.

While the BCCI has not yet made an official announcement regarding the final's venue, Ahmedabad's combination of infrastructure, experience, and favorable weather conditions positions it as a leading contender to host the IPL 2025 final.
