Four days out from a record-breaking hundred, Vaibhav Suryavanshi perished for a duck against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday. The left-handed batter perished without troubling the scores in the very first over as Deepak Chahar struck early for the Mumbai Indians.

Suryavanshi found himself under the scanner as the Royals were set to chase a steep total of 218 by the Mumbai Indians. With the left-handed batter trying to go over the top against a full delivery from Chahar, all he did was hit to the fielder at mid-on and Will Jacks took a comfortable catch. The 14-year-old wore a disappointed look as he was forced to walk back to the pavilion.

Earlier, the toss at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium went in favour of Rajasthan Royals as Riyan Parag opted to bowl first in the IPL 2025 game against the Mumbai Indians. The Royals confirmed two changes, bringing in Kumar Kartikeya and Akash Madhwal for Wanindu Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma. Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, are going unchanged.

Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton laid a strong foundation for the visiting side with a 116-run opening stand. Later, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav asserted their dominance with an unbroken 94-run partnership off 44 balls. The total of 217/2 is also the highest IPL total at the venue.
