The 4th Test match between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester, ended in a high-scoring draw, as both teams piled on the runs in a match dominated by batters across all five days. After England won the toss and elected to field first, India responded strongly with a first-innings total of 358 runs in 114.1 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his impressive form with a fluent 58 off 107 deliveries, striking 10 boundaries and a six, while young Sai Sudharsan showed composure and class with a 61-run knock, laced with seven boundaries. England’s charge with the ball was led by Ben Stokes, who produced a captain’s spell to claim 5 wickets. Jofra Archer chipped in with three, while Liam Dawson and Chris Woakes took a wicket apiece.

In reply, England mounted a massive response, putting up a commanding 669 all out in 157.1 overs. Joe Root anchored the innings with a sublime 150, and Ben Stokes matched him with a captain’s knock of 141. Their contributions powered England to a massive first-innings lead. Ravindra Jadeja led India’s bowling with 4 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar took two wickets each.
With time still left in the match, India entered their second innings with intent and resilience. KL Rahul narrowly missed out on a century, scoring a solid 90, while Shubman Gill brought up a well-constructed 103. The standout performers, however, were Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, both of whom remained unbeaten on 101 & 107 respectively, guiding India to 425/4 at the close of play on Day 5.
