Sergio Perez has officially parted ways with Red Bull Racing with immediate effect following a challenging 2024 Formula 1 season. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Perez expressed gratitude for his time with Red Bull. “I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team."
He added,"Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience, and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way,” .
Perez, who joined the team in 2021, struggled to deliver consistent performances this year, culminating in a disappointing eighth-place finish in the drivers' standings at Abu Dhabi GP. He trailed teammate and world champion Max Verstappen by a staggering 285 points.
The tension between Perez and the team reportedly escalated throughout the season, leading to his premature exit despite being under a multi-year contract until 2026.
Sergio Perez career With Red Bull F1
Perez during his time with Red Bull F1 team was instrumental in teams success, helping secure constructors’ titles in 2022 and 2023, his form took a significant dip in 2024. Perez fail to finish in the top five in his last 18 races with the team, an absolute contrast to his earlier achievements.
Meanwhile, Red Bull has announced that Liam Lawson will join their driver lineup for the 2025 season, replacing Perez joining with sister team RB. Lawson, who has impressed in 11 races so far, is seen as a promising talent and a fitting addition to the team. Red Bull is yet to confirm the complete 2025 driver lineup but is expected to make further announcements soon.
This marks the end of an era for Perez at Red Bull, as the team looks to continue its dominance in Formula 1 with fresh talent.
