Out-of-favour Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed a stunning story about him getting mobbed during India's A tour of West Indies in 2012. Pujara disclosed that since he is a vegetarian, he was keen to find a similar meal but got in trouble while walking back.

The Saurashtra batter had been a mainstay of the Indian team for numerous years before getting dropped in 2022. Although the veteran made a comeback during the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in 2023, failure in both innings forced the selectors to wield the axe again.

Speaking during a book launch after Rohit Sharma compelled him, Pujara revealed:

"I haven't told but she is aware. But she doesn't have the details. I'm a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. And it was in T&T, where we went out at 11 in the evening. We didn't find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mobbed. I can't tell you in detail about it. But that's the story he is referring to."

Rohit said next:

"Moral of the story is, sometimes he can be stubborn. We told him, we warned him, 'don't go in the night'. 9 baje ke baad raat ko bahar mat nikalna. Yeh West Indies hai. (Don't step out after 9, this is the West Indies).

Cheteshwar Pujara snubbed ahead of England tour despite productive Ranji Trophy season
