Former PBKS Coach Mike Hesson Takes Charge Of Pakistan's White-Ball Side
A highly experienced coach, Hesson has held various coaching gigs, including propelling New Zealand to the 2015 World Cup final under his tenure. The 50-year-old was also appointed as the coach of Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2018 but tendered his resignation the very next year.

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) director of cricket operations Mike Hesson has been announced as Pakistan team's new head coach as far as white-ball cricket goes. Hesson will take charge of the team effective from 26th May, 2025 as he occupies the position left vacant by ex fast bowler Aaqib Javed.
A highly experienced coach, Hesson has held various coaching gigs, including propelling New Zealand to the 2015 World Cup final under his tenure. The 50-year-old was also appointed as the coach of Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2018 but tendered his resignation the very next year. In August 2019, he was appointed as director of cricket operations for RCB but didn't last long. Hesson joined the Islamabad United as a coach in 2023.
Hesson is likely to begin his tenure with the home series in Bangladesh. With the 10th season of PSL now rescheduled, the PSL will likely come up with a new schedule for hosting Bangladesh.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Moshin Naqvi addressed Hesson's appointment by saying he is thoroughly looking forward to his expertise and is keen to see him take the team forward. Naqvi said, as quoted by pcb.co.pk:
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer and renowned coach Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men’s team. Mike brings with him a wealth of international experience and a proven track record of developing competitive sides. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket. Welcome to the team, Mike!"
Aaqib Javed, meanwhile, has been appointed as the director of high performance.
