Jasprit Bumrah was a frustrated figure on Day 2 of the opening Test match against England on Saturday, despite claiming all three wickets. England posted 209/3 after the end of the second day's play. Team India's pace spearhead was unable to get support from his fellow bowlers throughout the day. The picture of the animated discussion has gone viral on social media. The moment between the two was captured in the 40th over of England's innings when Bumrah was off the field. After Team India's batting lineup posted 471 runs in their first innings, it was time for bowlers to rise to the occasion. Bumrah gave India a good start by picking up a wicket in the first over of England opener Zak Crawley by dismissing him for 4. Bumrah then came very close to dismissing both Ben Duckket and Ollie Pope. However, Duckett survived a close LBW appeal and Ravindra Jadeja dropped him at gully while Pope edged a couple through the slip cordon.
Bumrah broke the Duckett-Pope partnership when the left-hander (Duckett) inside edged one of the deliveries into his stumps for 62. The wicket also helped Bumrah break Wasim Akram's long-standing record of picking the most wickets by an Asian bowler in SENA countries. Bumrah now has 147 wickets in 55 innings.
A couple of overs later, Bumrah should have got his third wicket of Ollie Pope; however, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who could not hold on to a sharp catch at third slip when Pope got an outside edge. Pope went on to score a century.
Towards the fag end of days play, Bumrah got the important wicket of Joe Root who was guilty of pushing at ball that bounced more. He could have got another wicket in the last over of the day when Harry Brook was out caught, but replays showed Bumrah had overstepped.
