Team India and England will resume the battle for the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy in the second Test on July 2, Wednesday at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The tourists will be keen to stage a comeback after a deflating loss in the series-opener at the Headingley in Leeds.
Despite a significantly inexperienced batting unit, the likes of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul pulled their weight in the first innings. The likes of Gill, Pant and Jaiswal made centuries in the first innings, while Pant and Rahul peeled off tons in the second. However, the department hurting them the most was the bowling and fielding as the tourists had dropped at least six catches across two innings, allowing England off the hook. All eyes will be on their team combination and whether or not Jasprit Bumrah plays after a considerably heavy workload in Leeds.
As for England, they have announced an unchanged XI, resisting their temptation to include Jofra Archer in the team. Although their batting rode their luck in both innings to emerge victorious, it will still need some fine-tuning and so will the bowling.
