Dilip Vengsarkar’s contribution to cricket is unparalleled, said former India fast bowler Raju Kulkarni, who presided over the Dream 11 cup prize distribution function for the under 19s at Vengsarkar Cricket Academy, Oval Maidan, Churchgate.

“How many those who played more than 100 test matches have contributed as much as Dilip Vengsarkar has done in the last 30 years after his retirement. He has provided excellent platform for thousands of upcoming young cricketers that helped them to achieve greater heights in cricket,” Kulkarni said.

“I was part of the selection panel chaired by Dilip and we were amazed at his vision the way he selected players like Rohit Sharma for Mumbai out of nowhere,” he added.

Sai Siya CA clinch title

Sai Siya cricket academy run by Rajesh Sanil won the Dream 11 cup by beating Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket academy , Mahul, Chembur by 5 wickets. While batting first Dream 11 Vengsarkar Cricket academy were bundled out for 113 runs in 31 overs due to some fine bowling from Arya Gaikwad who took 5 for 24 runs.

Apart from Tushar Singh (51) and Shivam Kothari (19) their other batsman could not do much. While chasing this target Sai Siya Cricket Academy completed this target in 25.5 overs as they were 114/5. Arjun Jaiswal scored 63 not out to see his team through and was well supported by Bhanupratap Singh (29). Yasin Saudagar (2/28) and Anuj Kore (2/12) took two wickets apiece.

Arya Gaikwad who took 11 wickets in this tournament was the best player of the tournament as well as best bowler and man of the match in the final. Tushar Singh was the best batsman of the tournament as he scored 242 runs in the tournament. Piyush Thakre (DVCA) was the best fielder of the tournament. Winners were honored by Former India Captain Dilip Vengsarkar and former India pacer Raju Kulkarni.
