With the stampede in Bengaluru claiming 11 lives amid the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL 2025 win celebrations, the franchise has announced a financial support of ₹10 lakh to the families who lost their loved ones. Additionally, the franchise also revealed that a fund named RCB Cares is being created to those who suffered injuries.
According to the official release by the franchise, the bus parade was to take place at 5:00 PM. Instead, the celebrations turned to a tragic incident as the stampede claimed 11 lives and at least 33 were injured. Many were admitted to nearby hospitals as the organisers of the event have come under the scanner.
A senior police officer told newspaper Deccan Herald the below:
"We tried to discourage the government as well as the RCB franchise from Tuesday night against having any celebrations on Wednesday. We told them it would be ill-advised and recommended holding the event next Sunday when emotions would have cooled down. We strongly advised against a road procession. We said, bring the players directly to the stadium and conduct the event in a single venue."
In a statement released by RCB, it said:
"The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief."
Virat Kohli's quest to win an IPL trophy finally come true
On the cricketing side of things, it was a highly emotional moment for Virat Kohli, who had been with the side for 18 years and been part of three losing finals. However, the Royal Challengers were finally able to cross the line against the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.
The score of 190 looked below par on the night and it was Krunal Pandya's brilliant figures of 4-0-17-2 that prove pivotal in RCB's six-run victory.
