India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn't help but laud the spirited Ravi Rongali for his tremendous efforts to bring silver in the Men's Shotput F40 event at the ongoing Asian Para Games. Modi believes Rongali has served as an inspiration to a million with his remarkable strength and dedication to his goal.
Born in Vishakhapatnam, the 28-year-old but has shown unbridled dedication despite coming from a modest background, having a family of mere agricultural labourers. Rongali, who suffers from dwarfism, secured his personal best of 9.92 meters and lost the gold to Garrah Tnaiash of Iraq as his attempt amounted to 10.80 meters.
Modi took to his official handle on X and wrote the below for Rongali:
"Heartiest congratulations to the talented Ravi Rongali for his splendid Silver Medal in the Men's Shotput F40 event. Ravi is an inspiration to many, his remarkable achievement is a testament to his exceptional strength and dedication."
India continue to shine on day 2 of Asian Para Games:
Meanwhile, India had a double-medal glory in the men's 10m Air Pistol SH1 category as Rudransh Khandelwal and Manish Narwal clinched silver and bronze, respectively. In Badminton, Manasi Nayna Joshi beat China's Yuemei Liu by 2-1 in the women's singles' quarter-finals. Despite being a game down after the first, Manasi bounced back to win the next two.
India has sent 303 athletes for the Asian Para Games, which include 191 men and 112 women.
