Livingstone help Phoenix win their first match in The Hundred
Oval Invincibles posted 180 for 8, recovering from a poor start thanks to a blistering 63 off 29 balls by South African Donovan Ferreira and a useful cameo from Rashid Khan himself, who struck 16 off just six balls.
Chasing 181 for their first win of the tournament, Phoenix looked in deep trouble after a wobbly start to their chase. Phoenix recovered through Will Smeed’s 51. The Invincibles brought Rashid Khan into the attack, expecting him to tighten the grip on the match, but little did they know that the match would turn its head in no time.
Needing 61 runs from 25 balls, Livingstone tore into Rashid, launching him for three sixes and two fours in one over a stunning 26-run assault that rattled the Invincibles. What had been a daunting equation was suddenly reduced to 35 off 20.
Though the Invincibles staged a late comeback, taking two wickets in the final five balls, Phoenix held their nerve. Benny Howell struck the winning boundary with two balls to spare. For invicinbles, Saqib Mahmodd picked up 3 wickets and conceded only 28 runs in 13 balls.
