The Pune Police on Wednesday arrested Shiv Sena youth wing leader Nilesh Ghare for allegedly staging a shooting on his own car in Warje.
The incident took place around 11:30pm on May 19. According to the police, Ghare had come to his office in Warje's Ganpati Matha area. Just minutes after he exited the car and entered his office, two suspects came on a bike, and one of them fired a bullet at the vehicle. As no one was present inside the vehicle, no injuries were reported. The duo immediately fled the scene.
A police probe revealed Ajay Ravindra Sapkal (25) and Sanket Matale were the two main suspects on the bike. They also identified two more suspects, Shubham Sampat Khemnar (27) and Sachin Anil Gole (27), who allegedly helped Sapkal and Matale in the crime.
Later, it was revealed that the four suspects who were arrested are known to have associations with Ghare. The police also detected multiple calls between Ghare and the suspects in the hours before and after the firing incident.
