Who Was Smiti Chaudhary? Know All About The Haryana-Cadre IPS Officer Who Died In Nashik | Sourced

Smiti Chaudhary (48), a Haryana-cadre IPS officer of the 2012 batch, passed away in Maharashtra's Nashik on Friday.

Chaudhary, who was posted as Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, was on extended leave due to health reasons.

She had gone to Nashik to meet her husband, Rajesh Kumar, a Maharashtra-cadre IPS officer, who is currently posted as Director of the Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik.

Chaudhary was the daughter of former Haryana IAS officer Jaiwanti Sheokand. Her brother, Yashendra Singh, is a serving IAS officer in Haryana.

She was appointed as DSP in 2004 and served in several key posts, including as Panchkula DSP. She was inducted into the IPS in February 2017 and held various important positions, including SP Lokayukta, SP State Vigilance Bureau, and SP Dadri. She had been posted as SP ACB since September 2023.

Condolences poured in after her demise.

Hisar MP Brijendra Singh wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of a member of our paternal family, Haryana’s IPS officer Smiti Chaudhary. Such an untimely departure of a young officer is a profound loss to the family & friends and the civil services fraternity. May her soul rest in peace."

Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "A promising life cut short. Really saddened by the demise of Haryana’s distinguished daughter and IPS Officer, Smt. Smiti Chaudhary. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family and friends. May God rest her soul. Om Shanti!"
