In a challenging rescue operation that lasted nearly 10 hours, Pune fire brigade personnel, assisted by the Wildlife Rescue Team and local authorities, successfully freed an eight-month pregnant cow stuck between two walls in a narrow, L-shaped lane in a slum on Tadiwala Road early on Sunday morning.

The rescue began around 6 am when two fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene. The lane, measuring just one and a half to two feet in width, posed significant difficulties for the rescue teams. Using safety belts, ropes, pulleys, and other equipment, the firefighters struggled to free the cow’s trapped legs. Additional support arrived in the form of the Wildlife Rescue Team, who joined the efforts to carefully extract the animal.

To create enough space, the teams had to remove four ladders and fences outside nearby houses. Under the guidance of Senior Fire Officer Vijay Bhilare, the combined efforts of the fire brigade, wildlife rescuers, ambulance, police, Dhole Patil Regional Office, and local residents finally succeeded in pulling the cow out safely.

The community expressed relief and happiness once the cow was freed unharmed after the long ordeal.
