Liquor bottles along with 18 bags of plastic waste were recovered during a massive cleanup drive conducted by Pune Ploggers at the historic Shaniwar Wada site on Sunday. As part of Drive No. 562, a total of 29 volunteers participated in the effort, collecting 18 bags of plastic and 2 bags of glass bottles from the area frequented by both tourists and locals.

"This is what tourists see before they see the beauty. Pune, we need to be better," the group urged citizens to recognize that while cleanup drives help, they are only temporary solutions.

They emphasized that real change will only happen when people stop littering, demand greater civic responsibility, and begin treating public spaces like their own homes.

The message from the group was clear: “We’ll keep cleaning. But we hope someday, we won’t have to. Until then, join us—one bag, one bottle, one action at a time.”

On May 8, Drive No. 561 saw 15 volunteers conduct a river cleanup at SM Joshi Bridge, where they collected 13 bags of plastic and 4 bags of glass bottles.

Pune Ploggers have appealed to the public to help spread awareness by sharing their work and getting involved in future drives.
