Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has found itself at the centre of a controversy following the death of Tanisha Bhise, the wife of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Amit Gorkhe's personal secretary. She was allegedly refused admission at the charitable hospital last month due to non-payment of a ₹10 lakh deposit. Subsequently, she died at another hospital after giving birth to twin daughters.
After the news broke last week, many on social media criticised the hospital. However, some are now expressing solidarity with the medical facility, citing its past good work.
An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "What's happening at Deenanath Medical Hospital feels like a full-blown modern-day witch-hunt with the media and our leaders circling like vultures, each hungry for their pound of flesh. If we don't call this out now, they'll stop at nothing to satisfy their greed. Doctors stand by us in our most vulnerable moments. The least we owe them is our trust & support. Not scepticism, not 'jaude aplaya kay!', & certainly not silence."

Another X user shared his experience. He wrote, "My father, during his cancer treatment, from day 1 of finding the disease, took every treatment at Deenanath. I can assure you that I know every floor, every department that I interacted with, and their admin functioning in and out because the number of visits we did was something extraordinary. The staff is actually overburdened yet very very very cooperative. Not just this, nearly every relative of ours, gets their treatment done at Deenanath. It was the best, it is the best and it will remain the best hospital in Pune. Choice of middle-class and LIG families without a blink of an eye."
"The way people are attacking the entire institution, its staff and doctors is horrific. Average Punekar has always and always trusted Deenanath with their medical requirements. And will continue to do so. Local leaders and that too some from BJP have taken it upon themselves to try their best with monkey tricks. Kindly get this entire matter investigated. Guilty have to be punished. If and if only if they are guilty. No witch-hunt. At the same time also reign in local leaders and ask them not to malign the entire hospital," he added.
