The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rain in Pune, Maharashtra, tomorrow.

Earlier, it was predicted that the city would experience rain with stormy winds, including on Tuesday (May 6). However, after the latest observations by the IMD, the forecast has changed, and there is now an indication of rain with stormy weather on Wednesday (May 7). Therefore, a 'Yellow' alert has been issued for Pune district for the next four days starting Wednesday.

According to information provided by Dr SD Sanap from IMD, "A cyclonic situation is active in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The moisture-laden air generated from it was expected to reach Pune and surrounding areas by Tuesday, as previously predicted by the weather department. However, since it has currently reached North Maharashtra, the process of storm formation is now likely to occur on Wednesday instead of Tuesday."

"Rains accompanied by stormy winds have been reported in many parts of North Maharashtra, and rain has been observed at some locations. As a result, the climate in Pune is also beginning to shift. Due to the cyclonic activity over western India, the storm formation is slightly weaker than expected," he added.

Rain on Tuesday as well

"However, changing weather patterns do not rule out the possibility of rain on Tuesday as well. Updates regarding these climate changes will be provided from time to time through satellite and radar observations," Sanap said.

The temperature in Pune and surrounding areas is expected to remain stable on Tuesday (May 6). The maximum temperature will be 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will slightly drop to 22 degrees Celsius.
