Pune VIDEOS: Two Major Fire Incidents Occur In Shivajinagar & Kothrud, No Casualties Reported

Two major fire incidents took place in Pune in the early hours of Thursday - one at a bus depot in Shivajinagar and another in a bakery at Kothrud. However, due to the quick action by local residents and the fire brigade, no casualties were reported.

The first fire incident took place at around 4:30am at Golden Bakery situated near Sutar Hospital in Kothrud. The bakery was in a three-storey building. According to preliminary information, six people were trapped inside the bakery when the fire broke out. However, they were rescued due to their self-awareness and with the help of local residents.

Acting on the call to the fire brigade, five fire engines rushed to the scene and safely evacuated around 30 residents from the building.

Fire officer Prakash Gore, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "As per preliminary investigation, the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the bakery machines. Further investigation is underway."

"Six gas cylinders placed in the shop were quickly removed out of which we found two of them were in a leaky condition. Fortunately, it was taken out of the shop before the explosion," he added.

"The six workers were given a small area to stay, which is illegal in such a commercial place. There was no way to come out. The workers broke the bathroom window glass and saved themselves," Gore further said.

The second fire incident was reported at around 5:30am at the Pune Municipal Corporation's bus depot at Narveer Tanaji Wadi in Shivajinagar. One of the buses parked at the depot suddenly caught fire.

The fire brigade quickly reached the spot and doused the fire. No injuries were reported.

Fire officer Kamlesh Chaudhari said, "The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, as the bus was parked and the fire started in front of the bus. The matter is under investigation."
