The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in a move to crack down on illegal constructions, carried out a demolition drive on Friday against an unauthorised 8-storey RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) building near JK Park in Kondhwa Khurd. The structure, spread across approximately 5,000 square feet, had been constructed without any official permissions.
The action was conducted by a dedicated team comprising 10 labourers, five police personnel, one JCB machine, four breakers, two gas cutters, four junior engineers and two deputy engineers.
According to local residents, the construction had been ongoing for the past few months, causing regular noise, dust and heavy traffic movement in the area. Many were concerned but unsure how to report or act against it.

Meanwhile, another unauthorised structure built on a plot reserved for a sports ground in Kondhwa has received a stay order from the court.
Rajesh Bankar, Superintending Engineer, PMC, said, “The structure was illegally constructed and flats were being sold without proper permissions. After issuing a notice, PMC proceeded with the demolition. The building is structurally unsafe and should not be used or occupied. We urge residents to be cautious before purchasing flats in such unauthorised buildings. This kind of illegal construction puts lives at risk. We request citizens to verify all legal permissions before buying any property."
Following this action, PMC officials have declared the remaining structure unsafe and dangerous. They have appealed to the public not to enter the building or purchase any flats within it.
