Pune city is plagued by traffic issues, and slowly it is becoming the next Bengaluru, not just in terms of becoming the IT hub but also in terms of bad city planning and traffic problems. The MP from Baramati, Supriya Sule, has demanded a separate lane for school buses on Sus Road due to heavy traffic jams in the area.
Commuters are irked as daily life along the Sus-Hinjawadi stretch has become increasingly difficult, with unregulated school buses clogging the traffic on the road during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up hours.
Two big schools and several institutions fall on this stretch, and the buses of these institutions crowd the carriageway, frequently stopping without warning to load and unload students.
The MP, in her tweet, mentioned that the current situation is chaotic. If a separate lane for school buses is made available, it would ease congestion and make commuting smoother for everyone.

Sneha Rai, a commuter, said, "The big school buses choke the road, and it also hinders the traffic as the buses take time to turn. Even the students get late because the buses get trapped in traffic. We urge the authorities to take swift action before the problem worsens with the upcoming school term and increasing traffic in the region."
"While the school buses ensure timely pickup and drop-offs for students, their haphazard parking and sudden halts on the narrow roads have been disrupting the flow of regular traffic. This issue becomes particularly critical during office rush hours, as the Sus area serves as a key connecting route to Phase 3 of Hinjewadi and the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, a major employment hub," said Sudhanshu Gupta, another commuter.
