Pune: Pune Police's Crime Branch has identified and detained two Bangladeshi women staying illegally in India. A case has been registered against them. This was part of a broader action as orders regarding the identification of individuals staying illegally are in place by Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar.
Musammad Soni Abdul Samad Khatun (age 22) and Monira Begum (age 19), both natives of Bogra District, Bangladesh, have been detained. Currently, action is being taken against them, and they will be deported back to their country.
Police said that eight crime branch teams are currently in place to identify these illegal migrants and take action against them. Many Bangladeshi nationals come to Pune District to find employment, and many of them have been caught by both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerates.

According to police reports, Police Constables Amol Ghawate and Prafulla More received a tip-off about two Bangladeshi women living in the Katraj area. The team went to their residence and arrested them. Interrogation and investigation determined they were indeed living illegally.
Media reports have claimed that since the founding of the special crime branch teams, eight Bangladeshi citizens have been caught in Pune. All of them were living illegally, and currently, all of them are being deported back.
The action in the Katraj area was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Mulik. The Crime Branch team was led by Police Inspector Wahid Pathan, Police Sub-Inspector Digambar Kokate, and Police Constables Rajendra Nalawade, Kanifnath Karkhole, Amol Ghawate, Ganesh Thorat, Prafulla More, Bharat Gundwad, Ganesh Mane, Sarjerao Sargar, Shivaji Satpute, Shital Jamdade, Neha Tapkir.
