Pune: PMPML Generates ₹20.85 Crore In Revenue Through Mobile App In Just Five Months

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) mobile app, Apli PMPML, has received an overwhelming response from passengers. In just five months since its launch, 1.17 crore passengers have used the app, resulting in the sale of 69.42 lakh tickets and 24.23 lakh passes. Accordingly, a total revenue of ₹20.85 crore has been generated through the app.
'Overwhelming response'
Speaking about this, Nitin Narvekar, Joint MD, PMPML, said, " Around 1,700 PMPML buses are running across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the PMRDA region. To enhance passenger convenience, PMPML introduced its mobile app to provide real-time bus tracking, online ticket and pass booking, as well as a platform for lodging service-related complaints and issues. The app was launched on August 15, 2024. Within just two weeks of its launch, 3.48 lakh passengers had purchased tickets and passes through the app, generating an initial revenue of ₹67.62 lakh. Since then, the number of app users has increased day by day. The monthly increase in passengers due to the app ranges between four to six lakhs, with revenue rising by ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore per month."

In August, 2.50 lakh tickets and passes were sold, generating ₹67.62 lakh for PMPML. The numbers surged in September, with 12.24 lakh tickets and passes sold, raking in ₹2.97 crore. In October, 18.67 lakh tickets and passes were sold, resulting in a revenue of ₹4.20 crore. 16.28 lakh tickets and passes were sold in November, bringing in ₹3.61 crore. December saw the sale of 22 lakh tickets and passes, generating a revenue of ₹4.73 crore. As of January 27, 21.94 lakh tickets and passes have been sold, with revenue crossing ₹4.64.
iOS version of Apli PMPML
On Republic Day, the PMPML launched the iOS version of the app. The app’s primary feature provides information on all bus routes from the passenger’s current location to their desired destination, along with the Live Location Service, allowing users to track buses in real-time. Additional features include online ticket booking through the app, using the UPI transaction system and the ability to lodge complaints online.
