For the second consecutive year, the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) Building Permissions Department has generated more revenue than the Property Tax Department, which has traditionally been the civic body's primary revenue source.
According to the data, in FY 2024-25, the Building Permissions Department collected ₹2,601.88 crore, exceeding the set target of ₹2492.84 crore. In FY 2023-24, the department generated ₹2407.26 crore, significantly more than the target of ₹1604.84 crore.
Reportedly, the demand for construction in transit-oriented development (TOD) zones has helped increase the demand for building permissions. Redevelopment projects are also receiving a good response across civic areas, helping boost the department's revenue. Also, the introduction of new technology and software has facilitated smooth operations in obtaining permissions.
According to the data, the department gave 3,359 building permissions in FY 2024-25, a huge rise from 1,709 in FY 2023-24.
