Pune News: Police Arrest Prime Suspect In Darshana Pawar Murder Case From Mumbai

The Pune rural police have successfully apprehended the accused in the Darshana murder case, shedding light on the motive behind the crime. The accused, Rahul Handore (age 28), allegedly murdered his girlfriend, Darshana, after she avoided him following her success in the MPSC exams. The police, utilizing technical analysis, managed to track down the accused, who had been on the run since the murder.

They were childhood friends

Speaking at a press conference, Pune rural police superintendent Ankit Goyal provided further details of the case. According to him, Rahul and Darshana were childhood friends and knew each other well. On June 18, an unidentified body discovered, police found with injury marks was discovered within the jurisdiction of Velhe. The police registered a case of murder (Section 302) and later identified the body as that of Darshana Pawar.

"After identifying the body, we learned that Rahul had gone into hiding," Goyal explained. "The Local Crime Branch (LCB), along with the police station and other teams, initiated a search operation. We traced the accused to Mumbai, and our team apprehended him at Andheri railway station, where he was waiting to board another train."

Rahul used to work as a Swiggy delivery boy

Superintendent Goyal continued, stating, "Preliminary investigation reveals that Rahul's marriage proposal to Darshana had been rejected. Additionally, despite multiple attempts, he had failed to clear the MPSC exam, which Darshana had successfully cracked. Rahul, who was working part-time for Swiggy with a daily income of Rs. 400, was determined to marry her. He convinced Darshana to meet him one last time, and they went to Rajgad Fort on the morning of the incident, returning around 10:45 am. An altercation ensued, leading Rahul to strike Darshana on the head with a stone, causing her death. He then fled the scene and subsequently travelled to Kolhapur, Chandigarh, West Bengal, and finally Mumbai."

Superintendent Goyal revealed that the accused was emotionally disturbed following the incident and resorted to travelling by train without proper sustenance due to a lack of funds. He occasionally contacted his family members using a phone.

The Pune rural police have filed charges against Rahul Handore for the murder of Darshana and are conducting a comprehensive investigation to gather further evidence and ensure justice is served in this tragic case.
