Pune: District Judge Sonal Patil To Lead Pride Parade On June 8 – Venue, Timings & All You Need To Know

Sonal Patil, District Judge and Secretary of Pune District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), is all set to lead the 13th edition of the LGBTIQA Pride March in Pune on Sunday, June 8.

Anil Ukaranade, Founder Director of Yutak Charitable Trust, said the march is being jointly organised with the District Legal Services Authority. "Sanvi Jethwani (Co-Vice President, Transgender Welfare Board, Maharashtra) will be the Grand Marshal of the parade, along with Patil, and Protyush Borgohain (Director of Digital Enterprise Platforms at Kohler Co.) will be the Co-Grand Marshal," he added.

Ukaranade said the participation of Patil "marks a monumental moment for LGBTIQ rights in India, symbolising the judiciary's commitment to equality and justice for all citizens." "The march will acknowledge and express gratitude for the establishment of the Maharashtra State Transgender Welfare Board, as this decision is a significant step towards the welfare and protection of transgender persons," he added.

Ukaranade further said they will thank the Pune Police during the march "for taking effective action against rising cases of extortion, assault, and financial fraud targeting gay men through online dating apps."

Venue: Next to Abhinav Chowk, behind Adam Baug Masjid, Bajirao Road, Pune

Time: 4:30pm to 6:30pm

The planned route:

Abhinav Chowk – Bajirao Road – Shanipar Chowk – Right turn toward Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road – straight towards Khadakmal Police Station – Mamledar Kacheri – Right turn from Rashtra Bhushan Chowk – Hirabaug Chowk, culminating back at the starting point.
