Pune Crime: Couple’s Bike Slips In Kondhwa, Goons Loot Gold Chain On Pretext Of Help | File Photo
What seemed like a roadside act of kindness took a sharp turn into a chain-snatching incident.
The incident took place when a man and his wife were on their way home, and their bike slipped after hitting a pothole near Shriram Chowk in Tilekarnagar, Kondhwa, around 10pm on Wednesday (June 18).
Meanwhile, the chain snatchers approached under the pretext of helping them, but instead snatched the victim’s chain, took the bike keys and fled.

According to the police, the victim, Sachin Sanjay Mahajan (32), a resident of Tilekarnagar, was returning home from Yewalewadi with his wife when their bike hit a pothole and slipped on the road. Two unknown individuals came forward under the pretext of helping them. However, instead of helping, they quickly snatched the gold chain worth ₹75,000 from Mahajan’s neck and took the keys to his motorcycle to prevent him from following them.
Before the couple could react, the thieves fled the spot.
In connection with the incident, Kondhwa Police have registered a case under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the BNS.
