Pune Traffic Police have arrested an absconding murder suspect while taking action against traffic violators who drove on the wrong side of the road on Friday in Bibwewadi.
The arrested person has been identified as Ganesh Malekar, who was involved in the murder of Rohan Phalke in Sangli district.
According to the police, the Sahakar Nagar Traffic Division was conducting action against traffic violators in the Bibwewadi jurisdiction. During this time, Malekar was spotted coming from the wrong side of the road near Swami Vivekanand statue.

After seeing the police, Malekar tried to escape. However, he was chased and arrested by the police.
Malekar had injuries in his leg, and during questioning, he revealed details about the crime he had committed in Sangli.
Sagar Shinde, a traffic police officer in Sahakar Nagar division, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "Accused Malekar had murdered Rohan Phalke over an old property dispute with sharp weapons on December 12 in the Tasgaon area of Sangli district and came to Pune on December 17. He was hiding after the crime. However, he was apprehended while breaking traffic norms and handed over to the Bibwewadi Police Station."
