Police will set up checkpoints across the city to nab and fine people driving under the influence of alcohol

New Year’s Eve Traffic Advisory In Pune: Fergusson College Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road To Be ‘No Vehicle Zones’ | File Photo
Ahead of New Year's Eve, the Pune City Police have issued a traffic advisory for the public. These traffic changes will be in effect from 5pm on December 31 until the crowds disperse. Additionally, police will set up checkpoints across the city to nab and fine people driving under the influence of alcohol.
The traffic changes will be as follows:
1. From Good Luck Chowk to Fergusson College Main Gate on Fergusson College road will be a 'No Vehicle Zone'.
2. From 15 August Chowk to Aurora Towers on the Mahatma Gandhi Road will also be a 'No Vehicle Zone'.
3. Traffic coming from Y Junction to MG Road will be stopped at 15 August Chowk and will be diverted via Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
4. Traffic coming from Iskon Temple and going towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue and Aurora Towers will be stopped.
5. Traffic from Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk will be stopped and will be diverted via Taboot Street Chowk.
6. Traffic from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk will be stopped and will be diverted via Lashkar Police Station Chowk.

7. Traffic coming from Volga Chowk to Mohammed Rafi Chowk will be stopped and will be diverted via East Street and India Gandhi Chowk.
8. Traffic coming from Kothrud and Karve Road will be stopped at Khandoji Baba Chowk and will be diverted via Law College Road, Prabhat Road and Alka Talkies Chowk.
9. Traffic coming from Jangali Maharaj Road to Khadoji Baba Chowk and traffic going to Fergusson College Road via various bylanes will be stopped at Balgandharva Chowk and diverted via Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Omkareshwar Temple and Shivaji Road.
