A 25-year-old youth was killed in a dispute over water falling from the roof into another person's house in Titoli, Igatpuri taluka. A case of murder has been registered against six people in this case. The incident took place around 9.30pm on Sunday.
According to the police, rainwater had accumulated on the roof of Dnyaneshwar Jagannath Bhatate's house. As it was leaking from the house, while cleaning it, it fell into the house of his cousin, Praveen Machhindra Bhatate. This led to an argument between Dnyaneshwar Bhatate and Praveen Bhatate. Praveen Bhatate (29), a resident of Titoli, abused Dnyaneshwar Bhatate and his family.
After that, accused Rajendra Baburao Bhatate, Deepak Rajendra Bhatate, Nitin Rajendra Bhatate, and Mahesh Dnyaneshwar Bhatate dragged the complainant's brother, Damu alias Dinesh Machhindra Bhatte, to a nearby house and beat him up. During this beating, the accused Dnyaneshwar Bhatate allegedly gave a knife to his son, accused Ramesh Dnyaneshwar Bhatte. Ramesh Bhatate stabbed Dinesh Bhatate in the chest with that knife and killed him. When the complainant resisted, accused Nitin Rajendra Bhatte injured the complainant by hitting him on the head with a wooden stick.
Igatpuri police have arrested the suspected accused Dnyaneshwar Jagannath Bhatate, Ramesh Dnyaneshwar Bhatate, Nitin Rajendra Bhatate, Deepak Rajendra Bhatate, Rajendra Baburao Bhatate, and Mahesh Dnyaneshwar Bhatate. This incident has created tension in the Igatpuri area, and the police are conducting further investigations.
