District Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Reddy stated that the crackdown was prompted by a rise in accidents involving minors. "Parents must understand the consequences of allowing their children to drive without a licence. It is a legal offence, and we will not tolerate it," Reddy said.
To ensure stricter enforcement, traffic police teams will patrol near schools and colleges to identify and act against underage drivers.
Additionally, the city has seen increased action against unruly rickshaw drivers, with 266 rickshaws seized and Rs 2.11 lakh in fines collected so far.
Authorities are urging parents to discourage minors from driving and avoid endangering lives by adhering to traffic regulations.
