"The timing for the wine shops has been extended up to 1AM. Moreover, restaurants, bars, and hotels can remain open until 5AM in the morning. Illegal farmhouses, banquet halls, and hotels will be under our radar. People can enjoy and celebrate the days by following the rules. Strict action will be taken against the violation of the norms."
Don't drink and drive
Meanwhile, ahead of New Year's Eve, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Pune traffic police have launched a campaign to crack down on drink and drive violations. The campaign will run until December 31. As part of the initiative, random checks will be conducted on drivers to determine if they are under the influence of alcohol, with breath analyzer machines being used at various locations.
In addition to drink and drive violations, the campaign will also focus on identifying underage drivers in the city. Several locations have been designated for random checks, where RTO inspector squads will be stationed. Barricades and check posts will be set up at key chowks to ensure the effectiveness of the drive.
