Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Former Corporator Raju Tanwani’s son, Dipesh Tanwani (26), died by hanging himself at his flat in Amrutsai Ekdant Apartment in Osmanpura, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The incident came to light on Tuesday.

Dipesh is the nephew of former MLC Kishanchand Tanwani. A suicide note was found in his flat, which mentioned, “I am not under pressure, this is my fault, I am sorry.”

As Dipesh was not responding to phone calls from Monday evening, his family members went to his flat. As the flat was locked, they entered through the balcony and found Dipesh hanging on Tuesday morning.

On receiving the information, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Ranjeet Patil, Osmanpura Police Station Police Inspector Atul Yerme, and other officers rushed to the spot and conducted the panchnama in the presence of a forensic team. Later, the body was sent to a hospital for the postmortem.

Dipesh was living with his family at Machlikhadak with his parents, but he shifted to Amrutsai Ekdant Apartment in Osmanpura around three months ago. Dipesh completed his education at a reputed school in the city. Later, he went abroad and completed his MBA. During the COVID-19 crisis, he came back and started looking after his family business. On August 9, he went to his home at Machlikhadak for Raksha Bandhan, but he did not respond to phone calls from his family members from Monday morning.

The door was closed from inside and Dipesh’s legs were tied. The digital lock of the door could be opened only by his fingerprints. As the door was locked from inside and the fingerprints of no other person were found on the digital lock, the police determined it to be a suicide case. Further investigation is on.

The reason for the suicide is unclear. He wrote a suicide note in English which stated, “I am not under pressure, it is my fault, I am sorry. I could not fulfil everyone’s expectations and could not make everyone happy.”
