Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: 175 Properties Demolished In Naregaon After Marking For 100-Feet Road; 550 More Cleared In Waluj MIDC Drive |
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) conducted a survey of the properties in Naregaon for the road widening work. On Monday, the CSMC anti-encroachment squad arrived in Naregaon to demolish the properties obstructing the road widening. However, the residents opposed the demolition, claiming that the marking of the road was not done. The officers then immediately completed the marking for the 100 feet wide road, fixing the centre point. After the marking, the demolition drive was initiated in the afternoon, and 175 properties were demolished by 7 pm. The demolition action continued even on Tuesday.
As per the development plan, the Naregaon Road is 100 meters wide. Last week, the officers conducted a total survey and fixed the centre point. The corporation had appealed to the owners of the affected properties to remove the goods and other articles from the properties on their own. The announcement for this was made through loudspeakers. Most of the traders removed their articles considering the width of the road.
The squad arrived at Naregaon Chowk at around 10 am with a strict police bandobast. However, former corporator Gokul Malke, Lute Appa, Dada Patil, Ankush Danve, Dnyaneshwar Salunke, Rambhau Bhokare, Sajid Khand, and other residents opposed the demolition without marking. Hence, the town planning department officers started the marking and completed it by 2:30 pm. The demolition process started after that. In all, 175 properties including two- to three-storey buildings, shops, garages, godowns, and other establishments were demolished.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) initiated action for road widening in the Waluj industrial area on Monday. In all, 550 properties affecting the road widening were removed. A strict police bandobast, under the guidance of CP Praveen Patil, ACP Sanjay Sanap, and PI Gadekar, was deployed for security.
