Out of the 20,000 candidates selected in the recent police recruitment, at least 1,000 will soon join the Pune Police, said Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil during the inauguration of the new Anandnagar Police Outpost at Vitthalwadi near Sinhagad Road Police Station.

The outpost building was constructed using the MLA funds of the Minister of State for Urban Development, Madhuri Misal. Patil said the population and number of vehicles in the city are increasing but to maintain law and order and manage traffic congestion, more police staff are required.

Madhuri Misal, at the event, highlighted that earlier the jurisdiction of Pune Police ended at Rajaram Bridge. Because of this, residents in nearby areas had to go to Haveli Police Station, which falls under rural police. To make things easier for the public, we got the area added to Pune city limits and started building a new police station and outpost on two reserved plots. Now the outpost is inaugurated, and the police station building will be completed in two months.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated, "The Home Department has approved seven new police stations for Pune. Funds have also been provided for expanding the CCTV network. The number of personnel in the police force is being increased, which will help us meet citizens’ expectations and improve law and order."
